Rest with the Best
Join Luna for this amazing practice of deep relaxation. This workshop will begin with a short version of Yoga Nidra followed by brief discussion. We will continue with a longer version for an enriched experience. You will leave the class having a greater understanding and the skills to continue this practice at home.
Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) is a state of consciousnessbetween waking and sleeping. It is a state in which the body is completely relaxed, and the practitioner becomes systematically and increasingly aware of their inner-world by following a set of verbal instructions. This state of consciousness (Yoga Nidra) is different from meditation in which concentration on a single focus is required. In Yoga Nidra the practitioner remains in a state of sensory withdrawal by listening to easy instructions and following the verbal cues of the guide. Stress reducing and deeply relaxing.
The practice of yoga relaxation has been found to reduce tension and anxiety as well as heal long term exhaustion with regular practice. After many studies in the western scientific format, a 20-minute practice of Yoga Nidra has been found to roughly equal two hours of deep REM sleep.
In this workshop we will begin the day with a short Yoga Nidra followed by discussion and information. We will then continue to practice a long version of Yoga Nidra after which we will have further question and answer time. You will leave the class having an understanding of this incredibly rejuvenating practice and how to continue your practice at home.
